About

This site is dedicated to the University of Pittsburgh’s English Literature 0505 course – fondly called How To Do Things With Literature.  For the past 10 years, EngLit 0505 has been taught as Lectures in Literature, which was a primarily lecture based course.  Professors Carr and McDermott, in an effort to expose students to a broader ranger of literary experiences, have revamped the course to consist of a once weekly co-taught lecture as well as a once weekly workshop-style recitation.  In these recitations, students get to experiment with the texts and get involved in the literary process in ways they may never have before.

As we move forward with this exciting, new course, this website will serve as a resource to future and present students in addition to a platform on which student’s can publish their work from the course.

This page is designed and maintained by undergraduate teaching assistants, Maureen Crammond and Emily Fecile.
